Twelve months after officially unveiling its first Australian Garage, CUPRA today  opens its 10th as it commences trading from its first purpose built Tasmanian premises.

To be located at 28a Warwick Street, Hobart, the Barcelona brand's first Garage in the Apple Isle is operated by Jackson Motor Company, an award-winning dealer of Volkswagen and a group that is, by far, the most significant automotive retail operation in the island state.

The Hobart Garage, which is under construction with an official opening in some four weeks, is open for pre-orders via the CUPRA website.

CUPRA Hobart's principal is Kristy Stewart; the general manager Lawrence Kertesz.

CUPRA Australia Director Ben Wilks said that Jackson's investment in the still new challenger brand, was another signal to the market that Australia's biggest players take this Spanish import seriously.

"JMC's commitment to CUPRA literally gets us on the map in that market, providing coverage that a brand with our ambitions needs," Mr Wilks. "CUPRA's national network is growing in extent and experience.

"The biggest players in Australian auto retail have taken a stake in a challenger brand that combines design, performance and – with the introduction in April of the BORN – full electrification."

JMC's new Hobart CUPRA Garage joins the three operated by AP Eagers (Indooroopilly, Gold Coast, Perth), Zagame's Melbourne pair (Richmond, with the former site at Chadstone being relocated), Sydney's Alto Prestige (CBD and Artarmon), Lennock Motors (Canberra) and Solitaire (Adelaide).

CUPRA's latest pop-sites are operating in at Glen Waverley (The Glen), Victoria, and Castle Hill (Castle Towers) in North West Sydney.  Mr Wilks said this agile tactic "brings the CUPRA brand to people in the places where they regularly go".

He said that Tasmania was always part of CUPRA's national vision: "Tasmanian customers will take to CUPRA's transparent driveaway pricing and increasingly battery driven range just as increasing numbers of mainlanders have been doing over the past year."

Ms Stewart said: "JMC is proud to welcome CUPRA to our portfolio of brands, we are confident that the design flair and innovative technology of the models will be embraced by Tasmanians interested in the next generation of motoring".
