CUPRA today celebrates its first birthday in Australia with close to 3,000 deliveries, more than 3,600 orders and solid growth projections.

The birthday brand from Barcelona has chosen to celebrate with three years free servicing on the 2023 model year Leon, Ateca and Formentor. CUPRA is also providing a one per cent finance across the MY23 range of these vehicles.

In terms of sales to date, the rear-wheel-drive Born BEV has, since its April release,  become CUPRA's second best seller to the Formentor crossover. The Formentor's  range topping VZx variant remains by far the brand's most delivered to date.

One third of CUPRA orders are for the Born and the Plug-in Hybrid EV versions of the Leon hatchback or the Formentor.

CUPRA Australia Director Ben Wilks said: "Our offer is constantly evolving. One per cent with three years free servicing in addition to guaranteed future value is a pretty compelling proposition and a sure sign that CUPRA isn't about to become complacent.

"Australia is responding to our design and performance focussed range, the seamless way we sell it online and the equitable transparency of fixed pricing provided by the agency model. Customers tells us that they like the way in which
CUPRA has made the buying experience easier.

"It's fair to say that we'll be doubling our deliveries by birthday number two."

The opening last week of its first Tasmanian Garage – in Hobart – brings to 10 the number representing CUPRA nationally, with further Garages planned for 2024 in addition to service centres in a number of major regional centres. Zagame, also operator of CUPRA Richmond, is currently relocating the Garage that previously operated at Chadstone.

Mr Wilks said CUPRA's range will continue to evolve yet remain focussed on pleasing the keen driver.

Hard thought is being given to the Leon Sportstourer family performance car, an estate take on the Leon hot hatchback range.

"The obvious Sportstourer variant, given CUPRA customer's preference for the quickest and the best-equipped, is the 228kW all-wheel-drive range topper," Mr Wilks said. "There are other versions that suggest themselves. We'll see …"

If the Sportstourer's case is made, it would precede a game changing range of wholly new CUPRA models including electrified SUVs Tavascan and Terramar.

"At our launch 12 months ago, we targeted an eventual 7000 annual deliveries," Mr Wilks said. "With these desirable models to come, CUPRA is firmly on track to achieve that target."
