- All-new TTS Coupe and Roadster spearhead the sporty TT range
- Dynamic and responsive 210kW / 380Nm 2.0 TFSI engine
- All-new TTS Coupe sprints to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds – 0.6 sec faster than its predecessor
Australia, October 21, 2015 – The sporty third generation Audi TT now has a dynamic new spearhead – the all-new TTS Coupe and Roadster. Starting from $99,900 MLP, the new TTS takes its place at the top of the iconic TT range.
"The new generation Audi TT is sporty, progressive and sophisticated, and it raised the bar in the compact sports car segment when it was launched in February this year. Now, with the introduction of the new TTS Coupe and Roadster models, some of the most exciting elements of the Audi brand are further highlighted, including sharp design, latest-generation technology, and sheer dynamic ability," said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia.
"The appeal of the Audi S model range has never been stronger in Australia. S models stand for incredible performance, thrilling dynamics, distinctive styling and a very appealing level of equipment, exclusive features and technological advancements,
"We're delighted to be presenting an exciting new offering in this market for Australian sports car enthusiasts. Its further proof of our sporting brand credentials," said Mr Doyle.
The Audi TTS is powered by a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine that has many unique engineering features that set it apart from the rest of the TT range. Modified aluminium pistons and higher-strength connecting rods, with new bearings, transmit torque to the crankshaft. The crankcase has been reinforced, and the cylinder head is made of a lightweight aluminium-silica alloy with high-strength properties and temperature resistance. The valve springs and seat rings have been modified to withstand the greater loads of such a high-performance engine. With a maximum charge pressure of 1.2 bar, the large turbocharger can compress up to 1,000 kilograms of air per hour. A high-performance air-to-air intercooler keeps intake temperatures low.
As a result of these modifications, the engine produces a mighty 210kW and 380Nm, the latter from as low as 1800rpm, all the way to 5,700rpm. This widely accessible torque curve makes the best use of the newest generation of quattro all-wheel drive technology that is standard in the new TTS. Through the use of advanced software, it actively directs more drive (up to 100 percent) to the rear wheels during dynamic driving.
This ensures the TTS is capable of the kind of thrilling dynamics that driving enthusiasts yearn for. Available exclusively with a six-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission, the new TTS Coupe can reach 100km/h from rest in as little as 4.7 seconds, with the TTS Roadster only 0.3 seconds behind. Fuel consumption is as low as 6.8 L/100km.
In keeping with Audi's ultra lightweight philosophy, through use of the Audi Space Frame (ASF), the new TTS Coupe is up to 45 kg lighter than its predecessor. Compared to the base Audi TT, the TTS sits 10mm lower, and is also equipped with magnetic ride technology, to offer the most comfortable or sporty handling characteristics, depending on the driver's mood. This feature is controlled by the standard Audi Drive Select system.
Powerful brakes are located behind the 19-inch alloy wheels, and the front discs are internally vented. The TTS uses newly-developed aluminium fixed-caliper brakes on the front axle. The lightweight design of the brakes reduces weight by nearly five kilograms compared with the previous model.
As expected of an Audi S model, the new TTS is equipped with a high level of sophisticated styling accents and numerous progressive features.
Some highlights include:
- Innovative Audi virtual cockpit with multifunction sports steering wheel
- MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch, DVD player, 10GB music storage, live traffic and map updates
