- New Origin EV Energy Plan available for Audi e-tron owners in Australia
- Mannering: "…a well-rounded and more sustainable ecosystem for both public and home charging."
- Launching April 2023, the plan provides eligible customers with five hours of free energy at home between 10am and 3pm daily.
Zetland, 29 March 2023 – Audi Australia is proud to announce an industry-leading, sustainability-focused alignment with Origin which will build on the already-existing offers available for Audi e-tron owners. Launching in April, the Origin EV Energy Plan will be available for both existing and new Audi e-tron owners, enabling them to power their vehicles for free between 10am and 3pm daily.
Origin is one of Australia's leading providers of energy to homes and businesses and like Audi, shares a significant heritage of innovation as well as a long-term goal to be carbon-neutral by 2050.
"Origin is committed to helping get more EVs on the road and to do this we need to make it easier and more affordable for people to get into their first EV, and then support them at all points of their EV journey," said Chau Le, General Manager E-Mobility, Origin.
In conjunction with Audi's goal to offer more sustainable modes of mobility for customers, this alignment presents a unique opportunity to round-out the ecosystem of energy use for the sustainably-minded EV owner.
Origin's EV Energy Plan will provide eligible customers with five hours of free energy between 10am and 3pm.
In addition, the plan also includes off-peak rates between the hours of 1am-6am. This is designed to help encourage electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicles when energy demand across the National Electricity Market (NEM) is lowest and wholesale energy prices are cheapest, instead of charging during the evening peak when wholesale prices are more expensive.
The new-founded partnership will offer Audi e-tron owners access to Origin's EV Energy Plan with 100 percent GreenPower* for 12 months for their home. Furthermore, owners can also receive a discount on Smart EV Charger installation in their home through Origin that can be automatically set up to optimise charging times, providing EV drivers with smarter solutions to charge their electric vehicles.
"This unique new home-charging offer with Origin, in combination with the existing EV offers exclusively available for Audi e-tron customers presents a well-rounded and more sustainable ecosystem for both public and home charging," stated Jeff Mannering, Director of Audi Australia.
"This holistic approach sets the standard for supporting those driving electric vehicles – those leading the charge for more sustainably-focused lifestyles and mobility."
As standard, Audi Australia offers all e-tron vehicles – including e-tron SUV, e-tron Sportback and e-tron GT models – with a comprehensive customer offer that includes a six-year subscription to the Chargefox charging network. This means e-tron owners have access to unlimited charging on all ultra-rapid and selected fast and standard chargers within the Chargefox network, of which Audi is a founding partner. All Chargefox ultra-rapid EV chargers are also backed with 100 percent GreenPower. Further information can be found at https://www.chargefox.com/network/
In addition to this a 6 year Chargefox charging subscription, all Audi e-trons come with complimentary 6 year Audi scheduled servicing and 6 year Audi Roadside Assistance.
The Origin EV Energy Plan is available to eligible Audi e-tron customers in Victoria, New South Wales, South-East Queensland, ACT and South Australia. Origin Energy is not active in the Westerns Australian and Tasmanian electricity markets, and as a result, customers in these regions are not eligible to receive this offer.
To opt in, Audi e-tron owners will need to be an existing Origin customer or will have to make the switch from their current provider to Origin. More information on this offer will be available closer to launch.
*GreenPower enables households and businesses to match their electricity use with government-accredited renewable energy. Under the program Origin will source the equivalent amount of energy from GreenPower accredited sources.
