Sydney/ Ingolstadt, October 4, 2018 – Audi has announced that six-time world champion, Stephanie Gilmore, will be a global ambassador for the e-tron brand. In her first official event as an ambassador, Gilmore travelled to San Francisco for the unveiling of the Audi e-tron all-electric SUV.
As a stopover on her way to the next leg of the World Surf League in France, Gilmore joined 1,600 guests from around the world in San Francisco for the global reveal of the Audi e-tron.
The all-electric SUV marks the start of an exciting new era in the brand's already rich history, expected to arrive in Australia by mid-2019. It is the first of three all-electric vehicles that Audi will debut by 2020, as part of the brand's e-offensive that will see Audi offering 12 all-electric models in markets worldwide by 2025.
"It's really exciting to be working with Audi and to be here at the very start of the e-tron journey," said Gilmore at the launch of the Audi e-tron in San Francisco.
"Sustainability is something that's close to my heart and it's something that should be close to everyone's heart."
While her passion for the ocean is well-documented, Gilmore is equally passionate about the environment and the shared responsibility of humanity to protect and preserve it for the next generation.
"As a surfer, I really feel that it's my responsibility to educate people and help them understand the effect we're having on the ocean and the earth as a whole," said Gilmore.
"We're thrilled to have Stephanie join the brand as a global e-tron ambassador and proudly display the Audi rings on her surfboard," said Paul Sansom, Managing Director of Audi Australia.
"As an iconic Australian at the very top of her field, and as an advocate for a more sustainable life, she's the perfect ambassador for the e-tron brand."
During the e-tron World Premiere in San Francisco, a production crew followed Gilmore as she made her way to the unveiling.
Along the way, she talks about her excitement for the future, explores the sights of San Francisco, and takes time for an early morning surf under the Golden Gate Bridge.
