- The first all-new Audi Q2 in Australia begins a tour of the east coast, six months before its official launch
- Sporty and sophisticated design merge with progressive technology in this exciting new compact urban SUV
- First Australian customer deliveries will take place in February, 2017
Hamilton Island, 23 August 2016 – The all-new Audi Q2 urban SUV has made its Australian debut amidst the excitement of Audi Hamilton Island Race Week in Queensland.
Before it begins a tour down the east coast of the country, the all-new Audi Q2 is spending a week basking in the sun at Hamilton Island, making an immediate impact on the Island's guests.
"We are delighted to have the opportunity to present the all-new Audi Q2 to our guests here on Hamilton Island, so far ahead of its Australian launch next year," said Andrew Doyle, Managing Director of Audi Australia.
"This important new entry point into the Audi SUV range has its own distinctive design language, and when it arrives next year, it will really raise the bar for the level of technology available at its price point.
"Combined with its versatility, the new Q2 will really carve out its own segment in the compact SUV segment, and over the course of the next few weeks, we can't wait to show it off to the many prospective customers that have already expressed interest," said Mr Doyle.
The design of the new Audi Q2 gives it powerful stance. It displays a lot of vertices and edges and at the front, the large Singleframe grille in octagonal design gives it a real impression of strength. Especially eye-catching is the low roof that descends and merges into the rear C-pillars, which appear as contrasting blades. This contrast accentuates the sportiness of the Audi Q2.
Along with Audi virtual cockpit and the head-up display, the driver assistance systems for the Audi Q2 come directly from the upper luxury classes – including the Audi pre sense front that is standard. The system recognises critical situations with other vehicles as well as pedestrians crossing in front of the vehicle, and if necessary it can initiate hard braking – to a standstill at low speeds. Other systems in the line-up: adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go function, the lane-departure warning system Audi side assist, the lane-keeping assistant Audi active lane assist, and cross-traffic assist rear.
The Q2 sports the intelligent MMI infotainment and navigation system, can be operated by a rotary/push-button control and a touchpad on the central control element. In addition, the system can be conveniently controlled by natural language operation and the integrated MMI search. Audi Connect and Google Earth and Google search functionality, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot, enables surfing and streaming with mobile devices.
The Q2 fulfills fundamental expectations of an SUV with a seating position that affords good visibility, and a large luggage compartment (405 to 1,050 litres of capacity).
The Audi Q2 is as individual as its drivers – inside and out. Many equipment packages, exterior colours and expressive colours for interior trim, LED lighting and seat upholstery allow plenty of creative space for personal configuration.
The first Australian customer deliveries of the new Audi Q2 will commence in February, 2017.
