Phillip Island, 13 April 2016 – The flagship A8 range has a new dynamic hero, in the all-new Audi S8 plus. In addition to its crushing athletic ability, this sophisticated sports sedan cossets with a sumptuous interior and advanced technology inside and out, making it a truly aspirational executive performance vehicle.

Beating at its heart is the burly 4.0 TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine. It features an innovative design, with the exhaust and turbochargers sitting inside the 'vee', in order to aid thermal efficiency. Generating a phenomenal 445kW of power and 700Nm of torque (750Nm on overboost), it delivers astonishing acceleration for a large vehicle: just 3.8sec to cover the 0-100 km/h sprint (0.3sec faster).

Progressive Cylinder on Demand (CoD) technology shuts down four of the eight cylinders under partial load to save fuel, delivering respectable consumption of 10.2 litres per 100km. Active engine mounts and the BOSE surround sound system's complementary Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) algorithm suppress undesired noise and vibrations during cylinder shut down phases to enhance the feeling of luxurious comfort inside the cabin. The S8 plus also comes with a sport exhaust sytem with quad high-gloss black tail pipes as standard equipment.

The considerable power is channelled to the road via an eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission and the legendary Audi quattro all-wheel drive system. The S8 plus also features the quattro sports differential on the rear axle as standard.

Key visual points of difference between the S8 plus and its predecessor is a high-gloss black exterior package, with carbon fibre accents on the front spoiler and rear diffuser. New 21-inch wheels in keeping with the matt titanium look also mark a strong visual presence.

Inside the cabin are comfort sport seats upholstered in Valcona leather upholstery highlighted by Arras red contrasting stitching, along with a unique carbon fibre red twill inlay. Additional leather touches and contrasting stitching set these models apart. A new matte Florett silver colour is also available by special order.

The innovative Matrix LED headlights are standard, which offer an incredible level of forward vision at night-time, without blinding other motorists. Dynamic turning indicators at the front and rear are also standard – a real safety advancement in low-visibility conditions.

As expected of such high-performance model, the S8 plus comes equipped with a very high level of standard equipment. Highlights include:
