- Powerful 3.0 TDI V6 produces 160kW/500Nm
- Incredibly efficient, with fuel consumption of just 5.6 L/100km
- New $111,900 MLP pricing makes the A6 allroad quattro more attainable
Australia, May 5, 2015 – The popular Audi A6 allroad quattro has been comprehensively refreshed, with evolutionary design changes, a new engine, intelligent technology innovations and a sharp new price of $111,900 MLP.
Since the first Audi allroad quattro arrived in 2001, this unique and popular model has won over Australian customers by virtue of its distinctive styling and real-world versatility. Previously limited to 150 vehicles, the success of the A6 allroad quattro ensures that it is now a permanent part of the A6 line-up.
"The allroad quattro models attract one of our most loyal customer groups across the entire Audi range," said Audi Australia's Managing Director, Andrew Doyle.
"Owners who lead an active lifestyle have an affinity for the A6 allroad quattro's versatility. It excels in challenging conditions, offers plenty of usable space in an alternative to the popular SUV body style and it has a distinctive style that complements the Audi A6's handsome proportions.
"We fully expect that as a permanent part of the new Audi A6 range, and with the new sharper price point, that the success of this outstanding model will continue," said Mr Doyle.
In keeping with the rest of the A6 range, the new A6 allroad quattro sports a new front grille, headlight design, side sills, rear-end treatment and interior layout.
At the front of the new A6 allroad quattro is the standard LED headlights. Also available are the optional Matrix LED units, which offers an incredible level of forward vision at night-time, without blinding other motorists. Dynamic turning indicators at the front and rear are also available across the range – a real safety advancement in low-visibility conditions.
The new high-resolution Driver Information System (DIS) sits in between the speedometer and tachometer readouts, and can display crystal-clear map-based navigation right in the driver's natural field of vision. This intelligent ergonomic innovation from Audi is powered by the new-generation MIB2 infotainment system, which itself is driven by the latest Nvidia Tegra 30 quad-core processor.
The all-new 3.0 V6 TDI diesel engine that is at the heart of the A6 allroad quattro produces a healthy 160kW of power and 500Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is an outstanding 5.6 L/100km (down 0.7L/100km), thanks to a number of fuel efficiency technologies like the new-generation start-stop program, advanced thermal management and the seven-speed S tronic's freewheeling mode.
The implementation of these technologies comes as the result of progress by Audi engineers to ensure the new A6 engine range exceeds strict EU6 criteria.
Power is distributed to all four wheels by Audi's legendary quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, which under normal driving conditions directs 60 percent of engine to the rear wheels and 40 percent to the front. It can also redistribute the power immediately if necessary – up to 70 percent to the front axle or as much as 85 percent to the rear.
The perfect partner for quattro all-wheel drive is torque vectoring, an intelligent software function of the ESC electronic stabilisation control. Upon detecting wheel slip on either inside wheel during cornering, the ESC unit precisely brakes the wheel concerned, which causes excess torque to flow to the outside wheel.
Adaptive air suspension is also standard. At speeds higher than 120 km/h, it lowers the body by 15 millimetres, and raises it by 35 millimetres at the push of a button. At low speeds, the lift mode brings an additional 10 millimetres of ride height. A tilt-angle display and hill-descent control program are also standard.
The A6 allroad quattro boasts an impressive list of standard equipment features, including:
- 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels
- LED headlights with dynamic rear indicators
- MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch, including Bluetooth interface, CD/DVD player, 2 x SDHC card readers, new USB-based Audi Music Interface (AMI) and 10GB flash memory
