Riders of Yamaha's new lightweight YFM250R Raptor will quickly
forget preconceptions about 250cc 4-stroke ATVs. Because in one
nimble and aggressive swoop the Raptor 250 has made everything else
look prehistoric.
The newest species of the famous Raptor family is an impressive
package that blends a lightweight chassis with brand new 250cc
air/oil-cooled four-stroke that punches well above its weight.
Unlike some other machines in this class that share engines with
their utility ATV cousins, the tough and torquey YFM250R powerplant
is specifically designed for sports application and features a
manual-shifting five-speed gearbox with electric starting.
The latest Raptor is the lightest production sport ATV ever and
offers pinpoint steering together with light, neutral handling
which comes courtesy of a compact chassis with long-travel
suspension, lightweight aluminium wheels and disc brakes.
Riders of all sizes and abilities will feel right at home on the
easy-to-ride 250cc Raptor. Did we mention how light it is? At just
142kg the new Raptor is 5kg lighter than the two-stroke
featherweight YFS200 Blaster ATV.
The aggressive swooping bodywork that signifies maximum
performance in a broad range of terrain types is available in
standard blue and grey/red along with two Special Edition versions
in black and orange/black.
Whatever the colour, Raptor 250 is set to turn the small
capacity sports ATV class on its head.
