Volkswagen Group has today announced the donation of AUD$2.5 million to aid in the relief and recovery of the catastrophic bush fires that continue to burn in eastern and southern Australia.
"Thousands continue to suffer from this unprecedented disaster," Volkswagen Group Australia's managing director Michael Bartsch said.
"Volkswagen has been part of Australian life since the 1950s. Therefore, we step up both to assist those at forefront of this crisis and to aid in what will be a protracted recovery."
Mr Bartsch explained that $500,000 had been designated for the fire services and the relief of those affected by the fires; $1 million would be channeled towards organisations involved with endangered wildlife; the remaining $1 million would go towards reforestation.
