At Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway, in 30 degree heat, there was nothing hotter than the Triumph 675's of Mitchell Carr and Christan Casella. Consistent rides in both races now sees Carr and Casella holding 1st and 2nd positions respectively in the 2011 Australian Supersport Championship.

Casella bounced back extremely well from an early practice session crash to claim a third row start, while Carr maintained the intensity required that saw him run away with his first Superpole victory. With racing perfection Carr turned a pole start into a podium finish taking first place in race one. Casella chased hard well into the dying laps missing a podium finish by less than a second.

The stakes were raised in race 2 with both Daytona's lined up confidently after promising race one results. The ever tense competition of Australian Supersport racing continued for another 17 lap thriller with plenty of on track rivalry at the front of the pack. Both Carr and Casella pushed hard from start to finish though were unable to reach the desired podium positions by the drop of the chequered flag taking 4th and 7th respectively.

Consistent race performance throughout the round saw Mitchell Carr jump fellow Triumph rider Christan Casella to take the championship lead. With only 2 championship points splitting the pair, Casella is eagerly awating their reunion at Queensland Raceway where he will be surely prepared for some race day revenge with an eye to regaining his leader status.

The Triumph Daytona 675 and Daytona 675 R continue to prove themselves on and off the track. Triumph Australia's Technical Manager, Cliff Stovall, is only looking forward, "This is a very exciting time for Triumph with the recent release of the Daytona 675 R, we're only in the early stages of race setup and already we've been blown away by the performance. The Ohlins suspension setup has proven to be a huge handling improvement along with the class leading Brembo braking system... I know its early days but I'm excited to see the future results of these two teams (Aark & Carr Brothers Racing) with the combination of these two very competitive and capable riders steering their Triumph Daytona's through the rest of the series. It's very exciting!"

Triumph Daytona 675 R sales have already shown promising results with Triumph dealers collectively receiving over 100 pre orders prior to bikes arriving on Australian shores.
