Suzuki Australia has announced details of a new king for 2005 – an all-new powerhouse ATV, the KingQuad 700 (Suzuki LT-A700X).

The new class-leading ATV comes complete with the greatest range of advanced, high-performance features ever assembled on a Suzuki four-wheeler.

Featuring a powerful 695cc, DOHC, fuel-injected, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine designed for a wide powerband and high durability, the big bore, four-stroke develops abundant torque, especially in the low to mid rpm range.

Utilising technology found on some of Suzuki’s high-performance motorcycles, the KingQuad features a chain-and-gear system to drive the camshafts with intricately designed crank and camshaft sprockets to keep the cylinder short, narrow and compact.

The powerful Suzuki’s large-capacity aluminium radiator with a 211mm diameter cooling fan maintains the optimum engine operating temperature in the harsh Australian conditions.

The Suzuki-developed electronic fuel injection system manages the fuel-air mix, providing excellent throttle response, smoother engine power, greater fuel efficiency and reliable engine starts under all operating conditions.

A push-button electric start fires up the engine easily even with the machine in gear providing the rear brake engaged, while a back-up recoil starter is included in case of battery failure.

Featuring three drive modes – two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive and front differential-locked four-wheel drive – the KingQuad 700 offers the right traction setting for any situation.

In two-wheel drive mode, the Suzuki steers like a lightweight ATV with the rear wheels providing the drive.

A convenient handlebar-mounted button allows the rider to easily change from two-wheel to four-wheel drive, with the unique, torque-sensing, limited-slip front differential delivering efficient, powerful traction and lighter steering.

For the ultimate in power control, the KingQuad 700 features a front differential lock system in which power is transferred to both front wheels equally, providing maximum four-wheel-drive traction in even the worst terrain conditions.

An advanced engine braking system assists the automatic transmission to control vehicle speed, minimising free-wheeling during downhill runs and while pulling a load.

The Suzuki QuadMatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) uses a durable V-belt and centrifugal clutch for fully automatic operation controlled with a gate-type hand shifter designed for simple and convenient selection of high, low, neutral and reverse gears.

Designed to maintain the necessary rigidity of a hard-working ATV, the Suzuki has an all-new high-tensile steel frame riding on independent double-wishbone arms with five-way preload adjustable shock absorbers.

For extra manoeuvrability through rough terrain and to control body roll during more aggressive cornering, the rear end is also equipped with a large diameter, low-mounted stabiliser bar.

The front end features hydraulic brakes with 200mm diameter front discs with new single-piston calipers designed for strong, reliable braking performance.

Specifically designed to work with the KingQuad 700’s fully independent rear suspension, the rear end is fitted with a three-plate sealed-disc brake system that is housed in an oil bath and requires no adjustment.

All-new, lightweight, pressed aluminium-alloy wheels feature a durable, inner-rolled rim that helps protect the tyres’ beads from rocks and sticks, while the front and rear half shafts are protected from debris by lightweight, durable plastic guards.

A polyethylene skid plate is installed along the full length of the KingQuad chassis, providing front-to-rear underside protection with minimal resistance over rocks and rough terrain.

The 700 features a comprehensive, easy-to-read LCD instrument panel which includes speedometer, odometer, twin-trip metres, hour metre, clock, fuel gauge, as well as the selected drive range and drive mode.

The KingQuad features Suzuki’s signature T-shaped seat with tapered design for rider mobility, plus thick rear padding for comfort and support.

Suzuki’s KingQuad has distinctively-styled, dual, halogen headlights, selectable for high or low beam operation, and an auxillary third light mounted at the handlebar-level, which can be switched off independently if loaded cargo racks would block its path.

The KingQuad boasts a large 2.8 litre water resistant storage compartment located on the right front fender, with a second storage box located below the left side rear fender.

Front and rear cargo racks, painted with a rugged wrinkle finish for increased durability and scratch resistance, and the high capacity centre-mounted trailer hitch are standard equipment.

Due to arrive in Australia in November 2004, the LT-A700X KingQuad will be available in Champion Yellow with a 12-month limited warranty.
