A wonderful Jaguar SS 2½ Litre Saloon that was one of the stars of the 1936 Melbourne Motor Show, is one of three great British sporting classic to be offered in 'project' condition with no reserve at Shannons Sydney Summer Auction on February 17.

Painted in the eye-catching show colour scheme of Lavender with contrasting blue leather upholstery, this very special SS Jaguar has emerged from years of storage following its most recent owner's passing with relatively minor ageing to the paint and chrome. While not running, it has reportedly been started recently. 

Although clearly an older restoration, the SS comes from a large car collection and represents a potentially rewarding project at its very realistic $15,000-$20,000 guiding range, as it would be eligible for the annual Motorclassica event held at the Melbourne Exhibition Building where it was first displayed 84 years ago.

Similarly attractive with 'no reserve' and the same price expectation for MG enthusiasts is a 1949 TC Roadster fresh from long-term storage.

Part of an extensive collection of classic cars based in the Wollongong, NSW area, the TC comes to auction largely complete and with evidence of considerable refurbishment some years ago.

The MG's older repaint presents well with only a few scratches and cracks evident, while its brightwork has some minor pitting in places.  The seats and door cards have suffered a little from long-term storage but along with its wet weather equipment would respond to proper cleaning and conditioning. 

With all major components present, Shannons believe the TC should prove a relatively straightforward proposition to put back on the road and would make a rewarding projects at its projected 'no reserve' selling price of $15,000-$20,000.

Finally, there is a 1968 Aston Martin DBS Coupe in 'cars and coffee' project condition that could be enjoyed as is, or benefit from a rewarding restoration. Offered with 'no reserve', it is expected to sell for $35,000-$45,000.
