Mazda Wins GRAND-AM GX Manufacturers' Title

Mazda closed out the inaugural season of the GX class, during the final year of the Rolex Sports Car Series GRAND-AM championship, with another race win and another championship title.

The #70 SpeedSource Mazda6 SKYACTIV-D Clean Diesel scored the final GX race win at Lime Rock Park (Connecticut), delivering Mazda more hardware for the trophy case, including the coveted manufacturers' crown.

In twelve races, the SpeedSource Mazda team scored five wins for the #00 VISIT FLORIDA Mazda6 and four wins for the #70 SpeedSource Mazda6.

There were many highlights throughout the season:

First diesel to compete in GRAND-AM competition
First diesel to win in GRAND-AM competition
First diesel ever to win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Winner - North American Endurance Championship (GX Class)
Winner - GRAND-AM Manufacturers' Championship (GX Class)

Joel Miller scored the most GX race wins (5) while Tom Long scored the most GX pole positions (7).

Mazda drivers Joel Miller, Sylvain Tremblay and Tom Long came equal second in the championship on points while Miller was recognised as the 2013 GRAND-AM Rookie-of-the-Year.
