Kumho has been chosen by US manufacturer Chrysler as the original equipment tyre supplier for the latest and ultimate high performance version of the Dodge Viper- the hand built street-legal Viper ACR (American Club Racer).

Dodge chose the Kumho ECSTA V720 using 295/25ZR19 on the front and 355/30ZR19 on the rear. The massive rear ECSTA V720s provide the largest combined contact patch of any production car according to Dodge.

Designed and developed especially for the new Viper ACR, the Kumho ECSTA V720 features unique tread patterns and compounds front to rear and have achieved lap times as much as 1.5 seconds faster than dedicated race tyres as well as delivering sustained cornering loads of up to 1.5g during back-to-back testing.

Everyone of the high performance attributes of the ECSTA V720 are needed for the Viper ACR which boasts an awe-inspiring hand-built version of Dodge's all-alloy 8.4-litre V10 engine, delivering drivetrain with a 481kW of power and 813 Nm of torque, which is thought to be the highest for any naturally-aspirated street legal sports car in the world.

It powers through a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission.

Dodge product manager Tim Kuniskis says the company's aim is to dominate road courses around the world and to arm its enthusiast owners with the ultimate Viper track car and.

"This car is not a three lap track special, it has been designed and built to run all day without any tail-off in performance." said Kuniskis.

To achieve this, Dodge has endowed the 2016 Viper ACR with not only extraordinary power and torque but also significant aerodynamic and suspension upgrades including new Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, with six-pot calipers and 390 mm discs at the front and 360 mm discs and four pot calipers at the rear. Suspension is handled by Bilstein adjustable coil over shock absorbers with ten-way adjustment.

Kumho's ultra-high-performance ECTSA V720 tyres even feature the ACR logo embossed on the sidewall, a nice salute to the extraordinary power and capability of the Viper.

The Viper ACR aero package produces up 900 kg of downforce at 285 kph

The latest Viper ACR has much to live up to following a line of Vipers dating back to 1999, including the last version, which captured the production car lap record around the infamous N+â-+rburgring Nordschleife circuit with a time of 7 minutes 12.13 seconds.

With its ECSTA V720 tyres more power and refinement the new Viper ACR should better that significant lap record achievement at the famous circuit in the German Eiffel Mountains.

According to Kumho Tyre Australia national training and marketing manager, David Basha, the supply of super ultra high performance tyres such as the ECSTA V720 for the new Dodge Viper ACR under lines the company's commitment for pushing the envelope when it comes to tyre performance and capability.

"Developing tyres such as the V720 for extreme demands such as those imposed by the Viper ACR expands our capabilities and the lessons learned flow down into everyday tyres used on regular passenger cars and SUVs," said David Basha.

Viper ACR will be available for sale in the US from September of this year.
