10 June 2008 - Thanks to its modest size and weight,
the CRF230L is able to fulfill an amazing variety of roles for
beginning motorcyclists through to seasoned riding veterans.
With a 223cc air-cooled engine including a two-valve head and a
compression ratio of 9.0:1, the net result is a wide power-band
that offers plenty of grunt while remaining user-friendly.
To make life easier on the pavement or in the dirt, the L model
also incorporates an electric starter and-like all Honda CRF
models-a maintenance-free CD ignition system.
The wide-ratio six-speed gearbox lends plenty of versatility for
just about every riding environment, and the heavy-duty clutch
delivers smooth, progressive engagement with good feel and
feedback.
Suspension and rider comfort are also paramount and the bike
therefore features a box-section aluminium swingarm, lightweight
semi-double cradle high tensile steel frame, 37mm Showa front fork,
and low motocross-style seat allowing for maximum rider
movement.
The 230's durable front and rear steel sprockets, high-quality
handlebars with comfortable grips, and wide, cleated, self-cleaning
footpegs all add to the overall general appeal of this popular
machine.
The CRF230L is available now from Dealers nationally for $6,490
(plus on roads), making it a highly affordable option for those
looking for only the best in a dual purpose machine.
