The dynamic, electric-start CRF450X takes off road riding to
exhilarating peaks of fun and excitement while dominating such
world renowned endurance races as the Baja 1000 as well as the
Australian Safari.
Yet the 450X is still a bike that is made for the common man who
enjoys an extraordinary machine.
Based on Honda's phenomenal CRF450R big-bore 4-stroke motocross
racer, the CRF450X features breathtaking power, a slim,
easy-to-ride form and rugged, long travel suspension systems
augmented by a revolutionary new development: the Honda Progressive
Steering Damper (HPSD), which eases control and smoothes handling
in cornering and over rugged terrain.
In addition to the cutting edge HPSD, there are plenty of spicy
new features for 2008 including new front fork triple-clamps with a
22mm offset and revised front axle placement for improved fork
action and cornering characteristics.
This year, new works-style front and rear brake rotors help to
reduce unsprung weight whilst a Dunlop 742FA front tyre offers
improved turning feel and traction.
The fuel tank and seat have also been redesigned for improved
rider ergonomics, and the carburettor now features a new
accelerator pump and linkage for improved throttle response.
Standard features such as a lighter and more compact engine
decompression system make for an even more impressive power plant
which centres around the liquid-cooled, electric-start 449cc
4-stroke 4-valve Unicam engine.
The CRF's dual radiators feature a refined core area for
improved heat dissipation compared to conventional dual-radiator
designs meaning overheating is never a problem.
For those who want to competing on Honda's enduro beast, all
needs are addressed with a large 7.2-litre fuel tank capacity,
easy-to-read competition odometer, powerful 35-watt halogen
headlight, and convenient sidestand that can be easily removed.
The CRF's suspension and chassis have also been tuned for
competitive off road riding needs, and the 18" rear wheel provides
enhanced protection against flat tyres.
The CRF450X will be available in Dealers next week at a
recommend retail price of $12,290. For information, go to: www.hondamotorcycles.com.au
