27 September 2018, Whitley: Jaguar Land Rover will continue its year of celebration at the Paris Motor Show from 2-14 October with vehicles from its legendary past, market-leading present and pioneering future on show in the French capital.

Land Rover will showcase a Discovery disaster emergency response vehicle that will enter service with the Austrian Red Cross.

The unique SUV will feature alongside the Range Rover SV Coupé and Land Rover Series I 'Reborn' in Paris, while Jaguar fans will be able to compare the latest XJ50 with an original 1968 Series 1 XJ6, as it returns to the scene of its world premiere half a century ago.

Visitors to the Jaguar Land Rover stand at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles will also get a chance to see the all-electric Jaguar I-PACE.

Celebrating 70 years of all-terrain superiority

Land Rover will continue to celebrate its 70th anniversary year by unveiling a unique Discovery that will enter active service with the Red Cross emergency response fleet.

Inspired by the original Project Hero concept car and the result of an 18-month collaboration between Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations and the Austrian Red Cross, the purpose-built Discovery features state of the art communications equipment, including an advanced eight-rotor drone, and will operate as a mobile nerve centre for disaster emergencies from which experts can direct rescue operations. Land Rover has supported the Red Cross since 1954.

The bespoke Discovery will star alongside the exclusive Range Rover SV Coupé and the modern-day interpretation of where it all started, the Land Rover Series I 'Reborn'.

Michael van der Sande, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: "Our partnership with the Red Cross isn't just about our vehicles. Since we started collaborating in 1954, our aim has been to help the Red Cross improve its disaster response and ultimately to help save lives. Over the past 18 months our engineers have worked closely with the emergency response team at the Austrian Red Cross, deploying Land Rover's technology and talent to create a unique solution for the Red Cross in the region."

Jaguar marks half a century of flagship saloon

A unique convoy of cars representing the past and present of the Jaguar XJ will journey from the Jaguar Castle Bromwich plant, UK, to the Paris Motor Show to help celebrate 50 years of the flagship luxury saloon.

The line-up will include examples of every XJ, representing all eight generations produced during the past half-century. The special collection will be led by the car that started it all, the Series 1, and finish with the most recent XJ50 special edition.

In 1968, the XJ made its debut at the show in the French capital, with Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons revealing his vision for a saloon car with the handling of an E-type. His personal Series 1 will be on the stand in Paris, alongside the XJ50.

Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director, said:"The Jaguar XJ is an iconic nameplate and has been a mainstay of the brand for as long as I can remember. We have always paid close attention to this car's origins when reimagining it for the modern day, so it is fantastic that the current vehicle will sit alongside the original for all to see."

Visitors to the Jaguar stand will also be given the opportunity to explore its game-changing first all-electric vehicle, the I-PACE.
